Paul Nicholas to play the Pirate King!
Paul Nicholas Carl Rosa Opera is pleased to announce that Paul Nicholas will be joining the company of The Pirates of Penzance in the role of the Pirate King for their spring tour. As the ever popular star of so many West End plays and musicals memorable to millions as Vince in the award winning TV series Just Good Friends Paul has recently appeared as Jack Point in Carl Rosa Opera’s The Yeomen of the Guard at the Tower of London as well as the Sergeant of Police in The Pirates of Penzance at the Chichester Festival Theatre.

Plans for next spring, summer and autumn
Given the world recession Carl Rosa Opera, along with may other companies at the moment, is having to be extremely prudent. With this in mind and the recession not withstanding however we are planning a London season of The Pirates of Penzance and HMS Pinafore in the summer directly following our spring tour after which both productions will tour extensively in the autumn in repertory.

The Yeomen of the Guards Workshop
Wycombe Savoy Opera Company Two singers from Carl Rosa Opera recently teamed up with the Wycombe Savoy Opera Company to provide an educational workshop based around two staged scenes from The Yeomen of the Guard at the theatre in the Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School, Marlow. This was a unique opportunity for GCSE and A Level music and drama students to enhance their stage directing skills through working with professional singers from the Carl Rosa Opera Company and proved a great success. Thank you to all those who took part and especially the organisers at the Wycombe Savoy.
